آن یکی می رفت در مسجد درون
مردم از مسجد همی آمد برون

گشت پرسان که جماعت را چه بود
که ز مسجد می برون آیند زود

آن یکی گفتش که پیغامبر نماز
با جماعت کرد و فارغ شد ز راز

تو کجا در می روی ای مرد خام
چونک پیغامبر بدادست السلام

گفت آه و دود از آن اه شد برون
آه او می داد از دل بوی خون

آن یکی گفتا بده آن آه را
وین نماز من تو را بادا عطا

گفت دادم آه و پذرفتم نماز
او ستد آن آه را با صد نیاز

شب بخواب اندر بگفتش هاتفی
که خریدی آب حیوان و شفا

حرمت این اختیار و این دخول
شد نماز جملهٔ خلقان قبول

English translation

A certain man was going into the mosque While people were coming out of the mosque. He began to ask what had happened with the congregation, That they were coming out of the mosque so quickly. One of them told him: 'The Prophet performed the prayer With the congregation and is done — the mystery is ended. Where are you going, O raw man, When the Prophet has already given the salām?'

He said 'Ah!' and smoke came out from that 'Ah!' His sigh gave off the scent of blood from the heart. One of them said: 'Give me that sigh, And let this prayer of mine be a gift to you.'

He said: 'I give the sigh and I accept the prayer.' The other took that sigh with a hundred longings.

In the night, in sleep, a divine voice said to him: 'You have purchased the Water of Life and healing. By the sanctity of this choice and this entering in, The prayer of all creation was accepted.'
