دفتر سوم - بخش ۱۸۶ - در آمدن آن عاشق لاابالی در بخارا وتحذیر کردن دوستان او را از پیداشدن / Book Three - Section 186 - The Arrival of That Reckless Lover in Bukhara and His Friends Warning Him Against Being Found

Original content

English translation

He entered Bukhara joyful,\nBefore his beloved and his sanctuary of safety.\nLike a drunkard who soars through the ether\nWhom the moon takes in her arms and says, "Here, hold on."\nAll who saw him in Bukhara said, "Rise!\nBefore you are found, do not linger — flee!\nFor that wrathful king is seeking you,\nTo draw from your soul ten years' worth of vengeance.\nFor God's sake, do not step into your own blood!\nRely less on your breath and your own sorcery.\nYou were the police chief of Sadr-i Jahan, generous and noble,\nYou were trusted — a master engineer.\nYou committed treachery and fled from punishment,\nYou had broken free — why did you hang yourself again?\nYou escaped calamity through a hundred stratagems;\nWas it foolishness that brought you here, or the hour of death?\nO you whose intellect would overwhelm Mercury himself,\nFate renders both the wise and their wisdom foolish.\nAn ill-starred rabbit who goes seeking the lion —\nWhere now is your shrewdness, your intellect, your agility?\nThere are a hundredfold more enchantments of Fate;\nIt is said: "When Fate descends, the expanse grows narrow."\nA hundred roads and escapes lay to the left and right,\nBut Fate seals them all — it is the dragon.
