دفتر پنجم - بخش ۴۷ - در تفسیر قول مصطفی علیه‌السلام لا بد من قرین یدفن معک و هو حی و تدفن معه و انت میت ان کان کریما اکرمک و ان کان لیما اسلمک و ذلک القرین عملک فاصلحه ما استطعت صدق رسول‌الله / Book Five - Section 47 - Concerning the Commentary on the Saying of Mustafa (Muhammad), Peace Be Upon Him: 'There must be a companion buried with you who is alive while you are buried with him and you are dead. If he is noble, he will honor you; and if he is base, he will surrender (or betray) you. And that companion is your action (deed); so rectify it as much as you can.' The Prophet of God spoke the truth.

English translation

Thus the Prophet said concerning this path: 'There is no companion more loyal than one's actions.' If it is good, it will be your eternal companion; And if it is bad, it will become a serpent in your grave. How can this action and this acquisition on the path of rectitude Be achieved, O father, without a master? Is even the lowliest craft that exists in the world Ever learned without the guidance of a master? First comes knowledge, then action, So that it may grant respite or the appointed hour. 'Seek assistance in crafts, O person of intellect, From a noble, righteous person who is expert in them.' 'Seek the pearl, my brother, in the midst of the shell, And seek the art from the masters of the crafts.' 'If you find sincere advisers, act justly; Hasten to learn and do not hold back.' If a man wears tattered garments during leather tanning, It does not diminish his mastery. If a blacksmith wears a coarse cloak while blowing the bellows, His grandeur is not diminished before the people. Therefore, strip the garment of pride from your body, And wear the garment of humility in learning. Acquiring knowledge, its way is verbal; Learning a craft, its way is practical. If you desire spiritual poverty (faqr), it is established through companionship; Neither your tongue is of use, nor your hand. The soul receives that knowledge from another soul— Neither from a book nor from the tongue. Even if those secrets are in the heart of the wayfarer, The wayfarer is not yet a knower of the secrets, Until the expansion of his heart makes it a radiant light, And then God declares 'Did We not expand (thy breast)?' Saying: 'We have given you expansion within your breast, And We have placed the expansion within your heart.' Yet you still seek it from the outside; You are like a milker seeking milk from others. There is a boundless fountain of milk within you; Why do you seek milk from a tub? You have an opening to the sea, O reservoir! Be ashamed of seeking water from a pool. Is not 'Did We not expand (thy breast)' your expansion? Why then have you become a seeker of explanation and a beggar? Look into the expansion of the heart within, Lest the reproach 'Do you not see?' be cast upon you.
