Book Three - Section 31 - Imran Instructing His Wife After Intercourse That 'You Have Not Seen Me'

Original content

English translation

Do not disclose any of this; do not breathe a word of these things, so that a hundred sorrows may not come upon me and you. In the end the effects of this will become manifest, when the signs arrive, O beloved. At that moment, from the direction of the square, cries were coming from the people, and the air was being filled. The king, terrified by that uproar, jumped out at once, barefoot, saying: What is this clamor? What noise and shouting is coming from the square, whose dread makes jinn and demons flee? Imran said: May our king live long; the Israelites are joyful because of you. They are rejoicing at the king’s bounty; they are dancing and clapping their hands. He said: Granted, this may be so; nevertheless, suspicion and anxious thought have filled me completely.
