دفتر سوم - بخش ۸۰ - قصهٔ خواندن شیخ ضریر مصحف را در رو و بینا شدن وقت قرائت / Book Three - Section 80 - The Tale of the Blind Sheikh Reading the Qur'an from the Page and Regaining Sight at the Time of Recitation

Original content

English translation

In those days, that poor sheikh saw a Qur'an in the house of a blind elder. He became his guest in the heat of summer; the two ascetics were together for several days. He thought, "How strange: why is there a Qur'an here, since this dervish is truly blind?" His agitation increased in this thought, because no one else lived or stayed here. He is alone, with a Qur'an hanging there; I am not so bold or intimate as to ask. No, I will keep silent and be patient, so that through patience I may reach my desire. He was patient and remained for a while in distress; then it was revealed that patience is the key to relief.
