گفت یزدان مر نبی را در مساق
یک نشانی سهل تر ز اهل نفاق

گر منافق زفت باشد نغز و هول
وا شناسی مر ورا در لحن و قول

چون سفالین کوزه ها را می خری
امتحانی می کنی ای مشتری

می زنی دستی بر آن کوزه چرا
تا شناسی از طنین اشکسته را

بانگ اشکسته دگرگون می بود
بانگ چاووشست پیشش می رود

بانگ می آید که تعریفش کند
همچو مصدر فعل تصریفش کند

چون حدیث امتحان رویی نمود
یادم آمد قصهٔ هاروت زود

English translation

God said to the Prophet in this discourse: A sign easier to discern among the hypocrites: Even if the hypocrite is stout, comely, and formidable, You will recognize him by the tone of his speech. Just as when you are buying earthen jugs, You test them, O buyer. Why do you tap your hand on that jug? So that you may recognize the broken one by its ring. The sound of the broken one is different; It is the herald's voice that goes before it. A sound comes that makes it known, Just as an infinitive inflects the verb. Since the topic of testing presented itself, The tale of Harut quickly came to my mind.
