دفتر سوم - بخش ۲۰۴ - بیان آنک رفتن انبیا و اولیا به کوهها و غارها جهت پنهان کردن خویش نیست و جهت خوف تشویش خلق نیست بلک جهت ارشاد خلق است و تحریض بر انقطاع از دنیا به قدر ممکن / Book Three - Section 204 - In Explanation That the Going of the Prophets and Saints to the Mountains and Caves is Not to Hide Themselves, Nor Out of Fear of the Disturbance of the People, But Rather for the Guidance of the People and Urging Detachment from the World as Much as Possible

Original content

English translation

Those who say the saints were in the mountains To hide themselves from the eyes of the people—

Before [ordinary] people, they stand atop a hundred mountains; They place their steps upon the seventh heaven.

Why then would one hide who was a mountain-seeker, Who was already on the far side of a hundred seas and mountains?

He had no need to flee toward the mountain, For he had already cast a hundred horseshoes ahead of the celestial sphere.

The celestial wheel revolved and saw not even the dust of his soul; The sky put on mourning garments.

If in outward form that parī was hidden, Man was more hidden than the parīs.

In the eyes of the sage, compared to the parī who is mużmar [hidden], Man himself is a hundred times more hidden.

Man, in the eyes of the sage, is like something khafī [imperceptibly hidden]— How then is Ādam, who in the ghayb [Unseen] is Ṣafī [God's Chosen Pure One]?
