English translation
Do not foolishly seek mercy from the spearhead, Seek it from that King in whose hand it is. Why do you entreat the spear and the sword? For it is a captive in the hand of that Sublime One. In craftsmanship He is Azar (the idol-maker) and I am the idol; Whatever instrument He makes of me, I become that. If He makes me a goblet, I become a goblet; And if He makes me a dagger, I become a dagger. If He makes me a spring, I give water; And if He makes me a fire, I give heat. If He makes me rain, I produce a harvest; And if He makes me an arrow, I fly into a body. If He makes me a snake, I eject venom; And if He makes me a friend, I serve. I am like a reed pen between two fingers, I am not hesitant or intermediate in the line of obedience. He occupied the dust in speaking, He took up a handful of that ancient dust. He snatched it from the dust-heap like a magician, The dust became occupied in speaking, like those beside themselves. He brought that opinionless dust to God, To bring that runaway-foot to school. God said: 'By My luminous knowledge, I shall make you the executioner of these people.' He said: 'O Lord, the people will hold me as an enemy, When I squeeze the throats of people in death. Do You deem it proper, O Sublime Lord, That You should make me hated and adversarial?' He said: 'I will manifest physical causes, Of fever, colic, delirium, and spears, So that I may turn their gaze away from you, Onto diseases and three-fold causes.' He said: 'O Lord, there are also servants, Who tear through causes, O Dear One. Their eyes pass straight through the cause, Having transcended the veils by the grace of the Lord. Having obtained the collyrium of monotheism from the oculist of spiritual state, They are delivered from illness and infirmity. They do not look at fever, colic, and tuberculosis, They do not let these causes into their hearts. For there is a remedy for each of these illnesses, Yet when the remedy is ineffective, that is the action of Divine Decree.' 'Every disease has a remedy, know this for certain, Just as the remedy for the pain of cold is a fur coat. But when God wishes a man to freeze, The cold will penetrate through even a hundred fur coats.' He will place a shivering in his being such that It will be cured neither by garments nor by shelter. When Divine Decree comes, the physician becomes foolish, And the medicine loses its way in being beneficial. How should the perception of the clear-sighted one be veiled By these causes which are veils for fools? The eye sees the Origin when it is perfect, It sees only the branch when a man is cross-eyed.
