هم بدان تیغش بفرمود او قصاص
کی کند مکرش ز علم حق خلاص؟

حلم حق گرچه مواساها کند
لیک چون از حد بشد پیدا کند

خون نخسپد درفتد در هر دلی
میل جست و جوی و کشف مشکلی

اقتضای داوری رب دین
سر بر آرد از ضمیر آن و این

کان فلان چون شد چه شد حالش چه گشت
همچنانک جوشد از گلزار کشت

جوشش خون باشد آن وا جستها
خارش دلها و بحث و ماجرا

چونک پیداگشت سر کار او
معجزه داود شد فاش و دوتو

خلق جمله سر برهنه آمدند
سر به سجده بر زمینها می زدند

ما همه کوران اصلی بوده ایم
از تو ما صد گون عجایب دیده ایم

سنگ با تو در سخن آمد شهیر
کز برای غزو طالوتم بگیر

تو به سه سنگ و فلاخن آمدی
صد هزاران مرد را بر هم زدی

سنگهایت صدهزاران پاره شد
هر یکی هر خصم را خون خواره شد

آهن اندر دست تو چون موم شد
چون زره سازی تورا معلوم شد

کوهها با تو رسایل شد شکور
با تو می خوانند چون مقری زبور

صد هزاران چشم دل بگشاده شد
از دم تو غیب را آماده شد

و آن قوی تر زان همه کین دایمست
زندگی بخشی که سرمد قایمست

جان جملهٔ معجزات اینست خود
کو ببخشد مرده را جان ابد

کشته شد ظالم جهانی زنده شد
هر یکی از نو خدا را بنده شد

English translation

With that same sword he ordered retribution against him; How can his deception save him from the knowledge of God? Though the forbearance of God shows tolerance and leniency, Yet when it exceeds the limit, He makes it manifest. Shed blood does not sleep; there falls into every heart A desire for searching and the solving of a mystery. The requirement of the judgment of the Lord of the faith Raises its head from the inner mind of this one and that one: 'How did so-and-so fare? What became of him? What was his state?' Just as the crop sprouts from the garden. Those inquiries are the boiling of the blood, The itching of hearts, and the debate and dispute. When the secret of his deed was revealed, The miracle of David became manifest and redoubled. All the people came bareheaded, Prostrating their heads upon the earth: 'We have all been blind from the root, Yet we have seen a hundred kinds of wonders from you. The stone spoke aloud with you, Saying, 'Take me for the battle of Talut (Saul).' You came with three stones and a sling, And you overthrew a hundred thousand men. Your stones shattered into a hundred thousand pieces, Each one becoming a blood-drinker for every enemy. Iron became like wax in your hand, When the making of chainmail was made known to you. The mountains became grateful companions to you, Singing the Psalms with you like a cantor. A hundred thousand eyes of the heart were opened, By your breath, they were made ready for the Unseen. And that which is stronger than all of these, which is everlasting, Is the giving of life which is eternally established. This indeed is the soul of all miracles: That it bestows eternal life upon the dead. The oppressor was slain, and a world was made alive; Each one became anew a servant of God.'
