سجده کردند و بگفتند ای کریم
دور بادا از تو رنجوری و بیم

پس برون جستند سوی خانه ها
همچو مرغان در هوای دانه ها

مادرانشان خشمگین گشتند و گفت
روز کتاب و شما با لهو جفت

عذر آوردند کای مادر تو بیست
این گناه از ما و از تقصیر نیست

از قضای آسمان استاد ما
گشت رنجور و سقیم و مبتلا

مادران گفتند مکرست و دروغ
صد دروغ آرید بهر طمع دوغ

ما صباح آییم پیش اوستا
تا ببینیم اصل این مکر شما

کودکان گفتند بسم الله روید
بر دروغ و صدق ما واقف شوید

English translation

They prostrated and said: "O generous one, may illness and fear be far from you." Then they leaped out toward their homes, like birds in eager longing for their grain. Their mothers became angry and said: "It is the day of the book, and you are paired with amusement!" They made excuses: "O mother, be still— this fault is not from us, nor is it our shortcoming. By heaven's decree, our master became ill and sick and afflicted." The mothers said: "It is trickery and lies! You bring a hundred lies out of craving for buttermilk. Tomorrow morning we will come before the master to see the truth of this trick of yours." The children said: "In the name of God, go! And discover whether we lie or speak true."
