Original content

English translation

Like the Prophet, from speech and from scattering, I repent seventy times a day. But that intoxication becomes the breaker of repentance; this intoxication that strips the body of its garment causes forgetfulness. The wisdom of revealing the long history has cast an intoxication upon the knower of the secret. The hidden secret with such drum and banner, water has become boiling from the drying of the pen (jaf al-qalam). Boundless mercy flows at every moment, but you are asleep to perceiving it, O people! The garment of the sleeper drinks from the stream of water, while the sleeper in his dream is seeking a mirage. He goes where there is the scent of water; by this thinking, he has blocked the path to himself. Because he said 'there,' he became far from 'here'; for the sake of a phantom, he was separated from a reality. The far-sighted and sleeping souls are many, have mercy upon them, O travelers of the path! I have not seen that thirst brings sleep; the thirst of the fool brings sleep. Indeed, intellect is that which grazes from the Truth, not the intellect that Mercury brought.
