دفتر چهارم - بخش ۹۱ - بیان آنک هر حس مدرکی را از آدمی نیز مدرکاتی دیگرست کی از مدرکات آن حس دگر بی‌خبرست چنانک هر پیشه‌ور استاد اعجمی کار آن استاد دگر پیشه‌ورست و بی‌خبری او از آنک وظیفهٔ او نیست دلیل نکند کی آن مدرکات نیست اگر چه به حکم حال منکر بود آن را اما از منکری او اینجا جز بی‌خبری نمی‌خواهیم درین مقام / Book Four - Section 91 - Explaining that every perceiving sense in a person has other objects of perception of which that other sense is unaware, just as every master craftsman is ignorant of the work of another master craftsman, and his ignorance of it, because it is not his duty, does not prove that those objects of perception do not exist; although by virtue of his state he may deny it, but by his denial here we mean nothing but ignorance in this station

Other children envy him, for 'Dust is the spring of children.' When that prince escaped from the fetters of colors, he said, 'I call these colorful dusts the same base dust, I do not call them gold and satin and brocade. I have escaped from this brocade, I have gone aside, and 'We gave him wisdom as a child.' The guidance of the Truth does not need the passage of years; in the power of 'Be, and it is,' no one speaks of capability.

دفتر چهارم - بخش ۱۲۴ - بیان آنک مجموع عالم صورت عقل کل است چون با عقل کل به‌کژ‌روی جفا کردی صورت عالم ترا غم فزاید اغلب احوال چنانک دل با پدر بد کردی صورت پدر غم فزاید ترا و نتوانی رویش را دیدن اگر چه پیش از آن نور دیده بوده باشد و راحت جان / Book Four - Section 124 - Explanation that the whole world is the form of the Universal Intellect; when you act unjustly towards the Universal Intellect through deviance, the form of the world increases your sorrow; in most cases, just as when your heart turns against your father, the form of your father increases your sorrow and you cannot bear to see his face, even if before that he was the light of your eyes and the comfort of your soul

دفتر چهارم - بخش ۱۲۸ - بیان آنک یا ایها الذین آمنوا لا تقدموا بین یدی الله و رسوله چون نبی نیستی ز امت باش چونک سلطان نه‌ای رعیت باش پس رو خاموش باش از خود زحمتی و رایی متراش / Book Four - Section 128 - Explanation of 'O you who believe! Do not put yourselves forward before Allah and His Messenger.' Since you are not a prophet, be of the Ummah; since you are not a king, be a subject. Therefore, go and be silent, do not create trouble from yourself, and do not carve out an opinion.

دفتر چهارم - بخش ۱۲۹ - قصهٔ شکایت استر با شتر کی من بسیار در رو می‌افتم در راه رفتن تو کم در روی می‌آیی این چراست و جواب گفتن شتر او را / Book Four - Section 129 - The Tale of the Mule Complaining to the Camel, Saying, 'I Fall on My Face Much in Walking, While You Fall on Your Face Little; Why Is This?', and the Camel's Answer to Him

دفتر چهارم - بخش ۱۳۰ - تصدیق کردن استر جوابهای شتر را و اقرار کردن بفضل او بر خود و ازو استعانت خواستن و بدو پناه گرفتن به صدق و نواختن شتر او را و ره نمودن و یاری دادن پدرانه و شاهانه / Book Four - Section 130 - The mule verifying the camel's answers, acknowledging his superiority over itself, asking him for help, and seeking refuge in him with sincerity; and the camel caressing him, guiding him, and assisting him in a fatherly and kingly manner

دفتر چهارم - بخش ۱۳۱ - لابه کردن قبطی سبطی را کی یک سبو به نیت خویش از نیل پر کن و بر لب من نه تا بخورم به حق دوستی و برادری کی سبو کی شما سبطیان بهر خود پر می‌کنید از نیل آب صاف است و سبوکی ما قبطیان پر می‌کنیم خون صاف است / Book Four - Section 131 - The Copt's Supplication to the Israelite: 'Fill a Jug for Your Own Sake and Place It to My Lips so I May Drink for the Sake of Friendship and Brotherhood, Because the Jug that You Israelites Fill for Yourselves from the Nile is Pure Water, and the Jug that We Copts Fill is Pure Blood'

دفتر چهارم - بخش ۱۳۲ - در خواستن قبطی دعای خیر و هدایت از سبطی و دعا کردن سبطی قبطی را به خیر و مستجاب شدن از اکرم الاکرمین و ارحم الراحمین / Book Four - Section 132 - The Copt Asking the Israelite for a Prayer of Blessing and Guidance, and the Israelite Praying for the Copt for a Blessing, and Its Being Answered by the Most Generous of the Generous and the Most Merciful of the Merciful

دفتر چهارم - بخش ۱۳۳ - حکایت آن زن پلیدکار کی شوهر را گفت کی آن خیالات از سر امرودبُن می‌نماید ترا کی چنین‌ها نماید چشم آدمی را سر آن امرودبن از سر امرود‌بن فرود آی تا آن خیال‌ها برود و اگر کسی گوید کی آنچ آن مرد می‌دید خیال نبود و جواب این مثالی‌ست نه مثل در مثال همین قدر بس بود کی اگر بر سر امرودبن نرفتی هرگز آنها ندیدی خواه خیال خواه حقیقت / Book Four - Section 133 - The story of the wicked woman who told her husband, 'Those illusions appear to you from the top of the pear tree, which makes human eyes see such things from the top of the pear tree; come down from the top of the pear tree so that those illusions will go away.' And if someone says, 'What that man saw was not an illusion,' the answer is this: 'This is an allegory, not a proverb; in an allegory, it is enough that if he had not gone to the top of the pear tree, he would never have seen them, whether illusion or reality.'

دفتر چهارم - بخش ۱۳۷ - رفتن ذوالقرنین به کوه قاف و درخواست کردن کی ای کوه قاف از عظمت صفت حق ما را بگو و گفتن کوه قاف کی صفت عظمت او در گفت نیاید کی پیش آنها ادراکها فدا شود و لابه کردن ذوالقرنین کی از صنایعش کی در خاطر داری و بر تو گفتن آن آسان‌تر بود بگوی / Book Four - Section 137 - Dhu'l-Qarnayn's Going to Mount Qaf and Asking, 'O Mount Qaf, Tell Us of the Majesty of the Attributes of the Truth (God),' and Mount Qaf Saying, 'His Majestic Attributes Cannot Be Described in Words, for Perceptions are Sacrificed Before Them,' and Dhu'l-Qarnayn Pleading, 'Tell of His Wondrous Works That You Hold in Memory, Which Are Easier for You to Speak Of'

دفتر چهارم - بخش ۱۳۸ - موری بر کاغذ می‌رفت نبشتن قلم دید قلم را ستودن گرفت موری دیگر کی چشم تیزتر بود گفت ستایش انگشتان را کن کی آن هنر ازیشان می‌بینم موری دگر کی از هر دو چشم روشن‌تر بود گفت من بازو را ستایم کی انگشتان فرع بازواند الی آخره / Book Four - Section 138 - An ant was walking on paper and saw a pen writing; it began to praise the pen. Another ant whose sight was sharper said, 'Praise the fingers, for I see that art from them.' Another ant whose two eyes were brighter said, 'I praise the arm, for the fingers are a branch of the arm,' and so on to the end

دفتر چهارم - بخش ۱۳۹ - نمودن جبرئیل علیه‌ السّلام خود را به مصطفی صلی‌الله علیه و سلّم به صورت خویش و از هفتصد پر او چون یک پر ظاهر شد افق را بگرفت و آفتاب محجوب شد با همهٔ شعاعش / Book Four - Section 139 - Gabriel, peace be upon him, showing himself to Mustafa (Muhammad), peace and blessings be upon him, in his own form, and when one of his seven hundred wings appeared, it covered the horizon and the sun was veiled with all its rays

دفتر چهارم - بخش ۹۱ - بیان آنک هر حس مدرکی را از آدمی نیز مدرکاتی دیگرست کی از مدرکات آن حس دگر بی‌خبرست چنانک هر پیشه‌ور استاد اعجمی کار آن استاد دگر پیشه‌ورست و بی‌خبری او از آنک وظیفهٔ او نیست دلیل نکند کی آن مدرکات نیست اگرچه به حکم حال منکر بود آن را اما از منکری او اینجا جز بی‌خبری نمی‌خواهیم درین مقام / Book Four - Section 91 - Explaining that for every perceiving sense of man there are other objects of perception of which that other sense is unaware, just as every master craftsman is ignorant of the work of that other master craftsman, and his ignorance, because it is not his function, does not prove that those objects of perception do not exist; although according to his state he might be a denier of it, but from his denial here we mean nothing but his ignorance in this station
