Chapter on the Biographies of the Sufi Masters (Bab 12)

This chapter of Hujwiri's کشف المحجوب (Kashf al-Mahjub) collects the biographical notices of the early Sufi masters (مشایخ). Each notice follows a fixed formula, opening with «و منهم» ('and among them...'), giving the master's honorific epithets, a summary of their spiritual state and rank, their teachers and companions, and a characteristic saying with Hujwiri's own commentary.

The individual sections dedicated to figures such as Yahya ibn Mu'adh al-Razi, Yusuf ibn Husayn al-Razi, Ahmad ibn Khadrawayh al-Balkhi, and Shaqiq al-Balkhi all belong to this single organizing chapter, which sits structurally between the whole collection and each individual biographical excerpt.
