This is the thirteenth biographical chapter of Hujwiri's Kashf al-Mahjub, gathering the recent (muta'akhkhir) Sufi masters whose era the author reached and some of whom he served directly. It follows Chapter 12 on the earlier imams of the Path and re-starts the enumeration of shaykhs with this later generation, including Abu Sa'id Fadl Allah al-Mayhani, Abu al-Fadl Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Khuttali (Hujwiri's own master in this Path), and Abu al-Qasim al-Qushayri. As a chapter-level container it sits between the whole Kashf al-Mahjub collection and the individual biographical excerpts, so a learner first meets the shared framing of the author's contemporaries before studying each master's entry.
