خردنامه اسکندری / Kheradnama-ye Eskandari (The Book of Alexandrian Wisdom)

The Kheradnama-ye Eskandari (Book of Alexandrian Wisdom) is the seventh and final masnavi within Jami's Haft Awrang. It portrays Alexander (Eskandar) in the Persian tradition as a philosopher-king who seeks counsel from sages, and it closes with the account of his death followed by the successive laments (ندبه) of the assembled sages over his body. Each sage draws a distinct moral on mortality and on the futility of hoarded power, treasure, and worldly conquest. The individual sage-lament sections (such as the laments of the fifth through tenth sages) belong within this specific work rather than directly under the whole Haft Awrang collection.
