خردنامه اسکندری / Kheradname-ye Eskandari (The Book of Alexandrian Wisdom)

خردنامه اسکندری / Kheradname-ye Eskandari

The seventh and final mathnavi of Jami's Haft Awrang (Seven Thrones). A philosophical and didactic poem framed around the figure of Alexander (Sekandar), it presents the counsels of the Greek sages and reflections on kingship, wisdom, and mortality.

Near its close comes the sequence of the ندبه حکیمان — the laments of the sages, in which the philosophers speak one after another over Alexander's coffin, each drawing a moral on the vanity of worldly power and treasure in the face of death. The individual section-poems of these laments (First Sage, Second Sage, and onward) are the immediate children of this work.

This node is the structural container between the whole Haft Awrang collection and its individual numbered sections, so that a lament belongs to Kheradname-ye Eskandari rather than directly to the seven-work collection.
