لیلی و مجنون / Layla and Majnun (Jami)

Layla and Majnun (لیلی و مجنون) is the sixth of the seven poems that make up Jami's Haft Awrang. It is a mystical narrative masnavi that retells the classical Arabic love story of Qays, called Majnun, and Layla. Jami reworks the romance as a Sufi allegory in which Majnun's consuming passion for Layla stands for the seeker's longing for the divine Beloved. The poem unfolds in numbered sections (بخش) that narrate episodes such as Majnun roaming the wilderness, seeking news of Layla near her homeland, and his encounters with the creatures of her lane. This work node is the container to which the individual numbered sections belong.
