لیلی و مجنون / Layla and Majnun (the sixth masnavi of Haft Awrang)

لیلی و مجنون (Layla and Majnun) is the sixth of the seven narrative poems (masnavis) collected in Jami's Haft Awrang, the Seven Thrones. Following the tradition established by Nizami, this masnavi retells the classic Arabian romance of Qays — called Majnun, the madman — and Layla, tracing their love from early attachment through separation, wandering, and madness. Jami reframes the story as a Sufi allegory in which earthly passion mirrors and leads toward divine love. The work is divided into numbered sections (بخش) that narrate successive episodes of the lovers' story; individual sections such as Section 14 belong under this poem rather than directly under the whole Haft Awrang collection.
