لیلی و مجنون / Leyli o Majnun (Jami's Haft Awrang)

Leyli o Majnun

لیلی و مجنون (Leyli o Majnun) is the sixth of the seven masnavis that make up Jami's Haft Awrang. It retells the classic Arabian romance of the doomed lovers Qays (Majnun) and Layla in a Persian Sufi idiom, where earthly passion becomes a figure for the soul's longing toward the divine. The work is organized into numbered discursive sections (بخش) that alternate narrative episodes with meditations on love, separation, and the faithlessness and transience of the mortal world. Individual sections such as Section 56 belong under this masnavi rather than directly under the whole Haft Awrang collection.
