English translation

The son of Umar saw in the eye of imagination, Umar himself, after twelve years. He said, 'Father, what state befell you, That you did not remember my condition?' He replied, 'From the time of my death until today, I had an extraordinarily soul-burning state. Due to the questioning about the injustices done to people, My intellect was utterly bewildered. A sheep's leg broke in Baghdad, On a bridge very weak and without foundation. No sin of that was directly on my neck, Yet its owner grabbed my hem, Saying: 'Why from the repair of that bridge Did you hold back your hand, O caliph of all, So that in that accident-prone narrow passage, The leg of a mute animal was lost?' Umar was so established in justice, That he became famous in the world for his justice. His justice reached its ultimate limit, Until it permeated into his very name. When his name became complete with justice, Defeat in him was replaced by victory. Therefore his army did not turn its back in defeat, And was successful in conquering all lands. With such justice, when he was called to account, See to what extent he was rebuked! As for him whose justice is not free from oppression, Whose name is not exalted by the attribute of justice, Nay, who has rarely trodden any path but oppression, How will his state be tomorrow in the afterlife?'
