Section 73 - Alexander's Mother Offering Thanks and Apology to the Sages

Original content

English translation

When that pearl dwelling behind the veil of chastity heard what she heard from each sage, she opened to them the door of grateful apology, and from behind the curtain composed this melody: "O knowers of mysteries, seekers of knowledge, you who unravel the difficulties of every people, the foundation of wisdom's edifice rests upon you, the hearts of the wise who acknowledge truth are from you. Out of kindness you pitched your tent upon my garden; through your wisdom you became the balm of my wound. You spoke to me a hundred heart-drawing subtleties; with the water of speech you quenched my fire. I had a heart distraught by the world, and a difficulty born of the turning sphere; through your breaths my difficulty was resolved, and my heart came to the bound of composure. In this indigo palace of enameled sheen, all the world is blind, and you alone are seeing. When there is no one who sees to keep watch, who will keep the blind on the road from falling into the well? May the world be a place where your light is cast abroad, and from that light may the evil eye be kept far."
