Section 151 - Allah the Exalted Said: 'O, my regret over what I neglected in regard to Allah'

Original content

English translation

Regret brings forth smoke from his soul, And at that time his regret yields no benefit. He sheds so many tears of repentance from his eyes That he becomes drowned from head to toe. And in that lamentation, the water of his eyes Acts, by its nature, as oil to his fire. Would that he had wept before this, And grieved over this matter before this, And given a bit of moisture from the stream of his eyes To wash away a black mark from his record of deeds. Of what use is moisture now when the field of hope Has withered from the scorching heat of the poison-wind of death? On the day when weeping would have been beneficial, He was content with laughter out of ignorance. When the time of joy and laughter arrived, Water dripped from his eyes and blood from his heart. When the Truth said, 'So let them laugh a little,' He bloomed like a bud from laughing too much. The stream of his eyes never sought moisture From the spring of 'and weep much.' Consequently, on the day of laughter and good tidings, He pours blood from his blood-shedding eyes. While everyone is laughing and joyful in their pleasant life, He is frowning and sorrowful from pain and affliction.
