وان دگر گرچه بود عشق مجاز
رهزن عقل و دین او ز آغاز

عاقبت حرف عاریت بسترد
ره به سر منزل حقیقت برد

میوه ای زان درخت چید و گذشت
جرعه ای زان قدح چشید و گذشت

سخن خوب و نکته سره گفت
عارفی کالمجاز قنطره گفت

بر ره تو مجاز قنطره ایست
نکند کس فراز قنطره ایست

زود بگذر که سالکان سبل
کم اقامت کنند بر سر پل

گرچه آن پل بود برای گذر
به حقارت به سوی او منگر

کی ز بحر تعلقات جهان
که در او غرقه اند پیر و جوان

جز به آن پل توان گذر کردن
پی به عشق حقیقی آوردن

English translation

And that other, although metaphorical love was The highwayman of his intellect and religion from the beginning, In the end, he wiped away the borrowed word, And found his way to the abode of truth. He plucked a fruit from that tree and passed on, He tasted a sip from that cup and passed on. A beautiful word and a pure point was said By a gnostic who said: 'The metaphorical is a bridge.' On your path, the metaphorical is a bridge, No one builds a home upon a bridge. Pass quickly, for the travelers of the paths Make little stay upon a bridge. Although that bridge is for passing over, Do not look upon it with contempt. How, from the sea of worldly attachments, In which the old and young are drowned, Can one pass except by that bridge, To find their way to true love?
