Section 33 - Allusion to the Division of Praiseworthy and Blameworthy Bewilderment

Original content

English translation

If the concept of bewilderment is divided, It is either praiseworthy or blameworthy.

The blameworthy is that which, through doubts and uncertainties, Blocks the path toward the destination.

In the path of effort and the lane of seeking, The first condition is the determination of the objective.

If the direction of intent is not distinguished, How shall the bird of effort take flight?

In the desert, when two paths appear, One of which is fit for the Kaaba,

Until you determine that path with certainty, How can you traverse it?

But determining the path with absolute certainty, So that you do not become a captive of doubt,

Is achieved through the signs of intellect and senses, Or by following a master who knows the way,

Or through divine inspiration and revelation, Which you cannot possibly oppose.

If none of these three proofs exists, You will remain stranded on the path, abased and wretched;

The ghoul of bewilderment will ambush you, And indeed, you will become a desert ghoul yourself.

Since the secret of blameworthy bewilderment Has become known to you in detail from this discourse,

The description of praiseworthy bewilderment is this: That you lift the veil from the face of the ultimate Goal.

The rays of the beauty of the sacred, eternal Divine Shine upon you from the height of grace and generosity.

Every moment you witness a different ray, Every breath you pluck a different fruit.

The overwhelming ecstasy of those rays renders you Oblivious to all created things and inventions.

They take away your sleep and food completely, And open the doors of divine grace to you.

You will be lost forever to your own existence, And purified of your self-worship.

A hundred good and bad things will pass over your head, Without you having any awareness of yourself.
