Section 27 - Allusion to the Sirat

Original content

English translation

When they are freed from the Scale and its weighing, They set a wondrous bridge over Hell. A bridge such that from foot to crown, Its traveler would be drowned in fire. Sharp as a sword, or even sharper; Its width like a hair, or even less than a hair. Whoever they may be, believer or disbeliever, They shall be brought to the head of the bridge. Whoever is a disbeliever, as soon as they set foot, The depths of Hell shall become their abode. Believers receive assistance from the Truth, But only according to the strength of their monotheism. Whoever, upon the prophetic path, Has had nothing but straight-walking, Hell shrinks back from their light, And they pass over like swift, flashing lightning, Or like a flying bird or blowing wind, Or something else lower than that. And he in whose faith there is weakness, His crossing of it will not be easy; But in the suffering of that narrow passage, He will tarry according to his weakness. Yet he will find deliverance in the end, Though he experiences great hardship.
