Section 7 - Expressing Helplessness in Fully Rendering Praise and Raising Hands of Supplication in Offering Prayer

Original content

English translation

It is better that I now confess my helplessness, And raise a cry of acknowledgement of my inability. Before the possessors of intelligence, this is the true path, This indeed is the secret of 'I cannot count Thy praises'. Since I cannot enumerate His praise, It is better that my task settles upon supplication. Not a prayer that comes from every weak-minded person, Restricted merely to the glory and position of this earthly abode, But rather a prayer like the prayer of the people of the heart, Comprising the divine bounties, Which brings both joy and prosperity, And also brings eternal life. It turns the king's heart toward religion, And makes the state of religiousness his rule. His work becomes according to the command, Becoming the seed of eternal empires. As long as this indigo vault of heaven exists As the display-ground of the eastern sun, May the royal throne be the display-ground of the king, And may his mind be aware of the secrets of religion. May he receive aid every moment from pre-eternal grace, So that he may become worthy of the eternal kingdom. May his well-wishers be safe from every calamity, Steadfast on the path of goodwill. The king's grace and virtue are limitless; How could a wise person's mind have the strength to enumerate them?
