بخش ۱۱ - در بیان آنکه هر یک از جمال و عشق مرغیست از آشیان وحدت پریده و بر شاخسار مظاهر کثرت آرمیده اگر نوای عزت معشوقیست از آنجاست و اگر ناله محنت عاشقیست هم از آنجاست / Section 11 - In Explanation That Each of Beauty and Love Is a Bird Flown from the Nest of Unity and Perched on the Branches of the Manifestations of Multiplicity; If There Is a Melody of the Beloved's Honor, It Is From There, and If There Is a Lament of the Lover's Affliction, It Is Also From There

English translation

In that solitude where existence was traceless, In the corner of non-existence, the universe was hidden. There was a Being, far from the form of duality, Far from the discourse of 'we' and 'you'. Absolute Beauty, free from the constraint of manifestations, Revealed to Himself by His own light. A heart-adorning beloved in the bridal chamber of the Unseen, Whose skirt was free from the accusation of blemish. No mirror stood between Him and His face, No comb's hand had drawn through His tresses. The morning breeze had not detached a thread from His forelock, His eye had seen no dust from kohl. The hyacinth had not become neighbor to His rose, No verdure had bound an ornament upon the rose. His cheek simple, free from any line or mole, No eye had seen an image of Him. He made the melody of love-charm with Himself, He played the game of love with Himself. But because it is the law of beauty, The beautiful one in concealment is restless behind the veil. A beautiful face cannot endure being hidden, If you close the door, it will show its head from the window. Behold the tulip in the mountains, How, when the spring season becomes delightful, It splits open the flower-scattering flint rock, And thereby makes its beauty manifest. When a meaning falls into your mind, Which in the string of meanings is rare, You cannot pass by its contemplation, You express it through speaking or writing. Since wherever beauty is, this is its demand, This movement first arose from Eternal Beauty. It pitched its tent outside the realm of holiness, And manifested itself upon the horizons and souls. From every mirror, it showed a face, In every place, a discourse arose about Him. A single gleam of Him shone upon sovereignty and angels, The angel found itself bewildered like the heavens. All those who glorify Him, seeking the All-Glorious, Became, out of selflessness, chanters of 'All-Glorious'. From the divers of this ocean of the sky's ship, A clamor arose: 'Glory be to the Lord of the Kingdom!' From that gleam, a radiance fell upon the rose, From the rose, a passion fell into the soul of the nightingale. The candle lit its face from that fire, And burned a hundred moths in every dwelling. From His light, a single ray shone upon the sun, And the water-lily raised its head from the water. From His face, Layla adorned her own face, From every hair of hers, a desire arose in Majnun. Shirin opened her sweet lips to scatter sugar, She stole the heart from Parviz and the soul from Farhad. He raised his head from the collar of the Moon of Canaan, And brought ruin to the soul of Zulaikha. It is His beauty that has manifested everywhere, Drawing a veil over the beloveds of the world. In every veil you see, He is the veiled one, He is the mover of destiny in every captivation of the heart. By His love, the heart has life, By His love, the soul has fulfillment. A heart that is in love with heart-seeking beauties, Whether it knows it or not, is in love with Him. Beware, lest you slip and suddenly say, That loving is from us and beauty is from Him. For just like beauty, praised love Has emerged from Him and appeared in you. You are the mirror, and He is the mirror-adorned, You are the hidden, and He is the manifest. If you look closely, the mirror is also He, Not only the treasure, but the treasury is also He. You and I have no part in between, We have nothing but a futile delusion. Be silent, for this story has no end, It has no tongue and no knower of tongues. It is far better that we entangle ourselves in love, For without this discourse, we are nothing, nothing.
