بعد شش سال معتمر یا هفت
به سر روضه نبی می رفت

راه عمدا بر آن دیار افکند
بر سر قبرشان گذار افکند

دید بر خاک آن دو اندهمند
سر کشیده یکی درخت بلند

چون به عبرت نگاه کرد در آن
دید خطهای سرخ و زرد بر آن

بود زردی ز رویشان اثری
سرخی از چشم خونفشان خبری

با کسی گفت ازان زمین به شگفت
چه درخت است این به حیرت گفت

که درختیست این سرشته عشق
رسته از تربت دو کشته عشق

بلکه بر خاک آن دو تن علمیست
بر وی از شرح حالشان رقمیست

زاهل دل هر که آن رقم خواند
حال آن کشتگان غم داند

جانشان غرق فیض رحمت باد
کس چو ایشان ازین جهان مرواد

English translation

After six or seven years, Mu'tamar Was going to the sanctuary of the Prophet. He intentionally directed his path through that land, And passed by their graves. He saw on the earth of those two sorrowful ones A tall tree rising high. When he looked upon it with contemplation, He saw red and yellow lines on it. The yellowness was a trace of their pale faces, The redness a sign from their blood-shedding eyes. In amazement, he spoke to someone from that land, Asking in bewilderment, 'What tree is this?' They said, 'This is a tree kneaded with love, Grown from the dust of two slain by love. Rather, it is a banner over the graves of those two, Bearing a script describing their condition. Whoever of the people of heart reads that writing Will know the state of those slain by grief. May their souls be submerged in the abundance of mercy, And may no one depart from this world as they did.'
