Section 2 - On His Existence, Glorified and Exalted be He

Original content

English translation

Whoever has a mind that sees fine details, Before him this discourse is certain: That the heaven and the earth, and whatever is in them, Of body and soul, whether old or new, Have no recourse but to a Maker, Who is continuously bestowing His grace. Who has ever seen a house without a house-maker's craft? Who has ever heard of a design without the hand of a penman? Whatever has made its way toward existence, Has found its existence and preservation from Him. His essence is neither accident nor substance; Whatever you may imagine, He is far beyond that. All of creation, high and low, is in need of Him, While He is free from any need and want. He was the first, and there was no universe; All of the universe found existence from Him. In the end He remains, and no one else remains; None knows His inner reality except Him. Distinct from all in attributes and essence, 'There is absolutely nothing like unto Him.'
