English translation

Verily, Allah is only One God; He is the Bestower of blessings, and He is the Praiser. He places gratitude for the blessing in the mouth; He expresses thankfulness with the tongue. Gratitude for His grace is itself another gift; it becomes the cause for further gratitude and praise. How could the chain of gratitude and thanksgiving ever reach an end in the eyes of a discerning observer? Whoever has a soul within a body, even if every tip of their hair were to become a mouth, And if from every mouth a tongue emerged, and every tip of hair had a hundred speeches and explanations, And they spoke for all eternity, revealing secrets of both the new and the old, They would still be unable to offer proper gratitude for even a hair's worth of God's bounties. He who is foremost in the history of eternity, and foremost in the decree of generosity. He who, without tablet and pen, inscribed the letter of the pen upon the tablet of non-existence. Until the spring of the 'Qaf' of the pen opened, the wave of grace did not flow from the heart of the sea. Neither the nine heavens with all the stars therein, nor the shell with all the pearls inside it, Have all fallen into the desert of existence except through that movement of Divine Generosity. The indigo sky, with its bent back, is but a single bubble from the Nile of His generosity. The indigo color of the bubble is proof that it has emerged from the depths of the Nile. Of all that He brought forth from the split of the pen in this ever-changing workshop, The inverted celestial wheel is a wondrous letter 'Nun', and the globe of the Earth is the dot inside its loop. Whoever has understood this beautiful script is a knower of the mystery of 'Nun and the Pen'. The man of His path who travels swiftly, the celestial sphere is like a hoof-cushion for his steed. Look, look! Behold the witness of this state: the stars are driven like nails, and the crescent moon is a horseshoe. Lest the earthquake of calamity set foot in this deceptive abode of nature, To subdue it, He has filled the lap of the earth with the heavy stones of mountains. His sea of generosity, on which the celestial sphere is a ship, the sound of its waves is: 'To whom belongs the kingdom today?' When the ear of the cosmic fish heard this statement, it found no remedy but silence from speech. Though its mouth was devoid of a tongue, the phrase 'To Allah, the One' came upon its tongue. He is One, and from the fish to the moon, all bear witness to His Unity. In the thread of Unity, there is no twist or bend; He is all that exists, and the rest is all nothing. In the circle of night and day, the spring season is a gate from His mercy. The garden is full of beauty from His artistry; the water is a mirror from His polishing. The wind learns from Him how to scatter fragrance; the bird learns from Him how to sing melodies. He tied the collar of the jasmine with a bud; He wove a coat of mail around the meadow with green grass. By Him, the candles of the moon and the sun are guarded within the lantern of the sky from the breath of calamity. To the eloquent, winged birds, He has given grains for sustenance through their glorification. When the hand of His artistry kneaded the clay of Adam, He wrote his name for vicegerency. By His generosity, He placed the crown of honor on him, and gave him his banner of knowledge from 'And He taught Adam'. Adam sat upon the throne of instruction, and closed the mouths of the fault-finders from their mocking. He sprinkled upon them all from the fountain of humility the droplet of: 'Glory be to You, we have no knowledge'. He made his face the altar of the angels, and they prostrated towards him one by one, Except for that fiery devil-born creature, who did not bow his head to be prostrated to him. He was blind of heart with the desire of 'I am better', and did not open his eyes to the goodness of another. Since refusing to bow became his practice, curse became a collar around his neck. He strengthened his back in hostility, and turned his face to whispering temptation to Adam. He beautified the forbidden grain in Adam's sight, and guided his way toward the trap of danger. Out of greed, Adam took a step toward the grain, and the grain placed him in the mouth of the trap. The dust of disobedience settled upon his face, and the back of his covenant was shattered by transgression. His slip raised the veil of darkness, and his repentance raised the cry of 'Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves'. The glow of the torch of 'He relented toward him' poured the lights of guidance before him. We, who are in the darkness of every distraction, are seekers of light from that torch. Arise, O Jami, let us pray intimately, and turn our faces toward the Qiblah of needs! Lest a light from that torch may reach us, and the soul, through its light, may attain joy.
