English translation
Like these status-seeking ignoramuses, Who have exaggerated in the loftiness of their lineage. A father and mother devoid of noble lineage, Yet the son has fallen into boasting of his lineage. Yesterday the father was of the lowest villagers, Today the son is an Alawite Sayyid. His mother a gypsy and his father a servant, Yet he claims connection to Haydar and Zahra. He makes himself out to be from the family of Mustafa, And claims to be from the lineage of Murtada. He says this, but his character, actions, and mannerisms Constantly prove him a liar. A son whose father was Mughirah, How can he be a grandson to the Prophet? How can that unworthy one be of the Ahl al-Bayt, From whose ignorance Abu Jahl himself would flee? A donkey boasted to other donkeys: 'Rakhsh of Rustam is my father!' One of them gave him a reply: 'Your two long ears are witness enough!' A piece of dung went into a musk-pod, saying: 'I am musk; my wet and dry states emit a sweet scent!' When the musk-seller opened the pod, His face turned black from that exaggerated boasting. A fox said to a camel, 'Uncle, Tell me truly, where are you coming from?' He replied, 'I am just arriving from the bath; I have washed my body with cold and hot water.' The fox said, 'This is your witness: Your filthy hands and feet are enough! The effect of washing all your limbs Is clearly visible on your heel.' I know not what insolence and disrespect this is Toward the Saint and the Prophet, That worthless and reckless people should claim Lineage and relation to such pure ones! How can the source of hypocrisy, counterfeiting, and deceit Be the genuine coin of Mustafa and Ali? How can a bird inclined toward the seed of deception Be from the nest of holiness? How can a bad-tasting fruit of a bitter nature Be the product of the tree of Paradise? How can a pouch of dung, like a musk-gland, Fall from the navel of the musk-deer? How can the delirium of Musaylimah the Liar Be born of the Hadith and the Book? How can two affirmative premises yield A negative conclusion of evil and disgrace? Their status yields a negative in its conclusion, Which was not manifest from the affirmative premises. May Allah curse the abandoner of etiquette, The one who enters among them without lineage! May curse be upon the one who joined a donkey's bead Into the string of pearls and gems! May curse be upon the one who closed his eyes And sold dark soil at the price of musk! May curse be upon the one who plated copper And made it appear like gold! Before this, there were many virtuous scholars Who did not rest from earning knowledge and art. In every time and in every state, Their effort was toward increasing virtue and perfection. No virtue found a place in their heart That was not acquired by their own effort. They read the lineage of the Ahl al-Bayt, But they fell short in acquiring their virtues. Despite clear perfection and lofty status, They became neither Husayni nor Hasani. How wonderful are the capable ones of this era, Who, of noble character and what was possible, Spent their lives in search, Until they brought it from potentiality to actuality. After that, they wore out their feet in effort, And trod the path of acquisition regarding lineage. From the genealogies of the family of the Prophet, Whichever lineage of theirs was accepted, They attributed their own lineage to it, And made their essence manifest. They made their family appear noble through tyranny, Like an al-maker with logwood. From weaving and scraping wealth, Their state transitioned to lineage-fabricating. But by the judgment of reason it is impossible For a black blanket to become scarlet. Those vile ones who seek this impossible thing Only bring pale-faced shame to the Family. O God, send a Hajjaj-like ruler, With a crown of justice upon his head, So that, just as the first one, out of an ignorant soul, Strived for the decline of the Prophet's Family, This latter one, with knowledge and justice, May repel these offspring of evil and corruption, And wash away this disgrace From the emblem of the Family's beauty with the water of a cloud-like sword.
