بخش ۵۸ - در دریا نشستن سلامان و ابسال و به جزیره خرم رسیدن و در آنجا آرام گرفتن و مقیم شدن / Section 58 - Salaman and Absal Boarding the Ship on the Sea, Reaching the Pleasant Island, and Finding Peace and Settling There

Original content

When Salaman drove his litter for a week, The advisors no longer had any hold over him. Safe from blame and free from advice, He cast his burden on the shore of a sea. He saw a sea boundless like the heavens, The eyes of the sea creatures like stars. Its expanse extended from Qaf to Qaf, And its depth reached the back of the bull and the fish. Mountain-like waves in agitation Made the surface of the water look like a mountain range. Or like majestic camels on every side, Bringing foam to their lips out of sheer intoxication. Fish appeared in it abundantly, Like the wavy patterns on a polished sword. Nay, visible to the detail-observing eye Like a slight flaw in the pattern of Chinese silk. Splitting the surface of the water everywhere, Like silver scissors cutting through blue silk. If its sea monster stirred in these depths, The dragon of the sky above would feel terror. When Salaman gazed upon the sea, He sought a way to cross it. He found a boat shaped like the new moon, Running swiftly along the shore of the green sea. Both entered it in a peaceful state, The crescent moon becoming the dwelling of the sun and the moon. It set sail with fully billowed sails, Casting its chest upon the water like a duck. It parted the way ahead with its chest, And hastened toward the destination with its chest. It was shaped like a bow, but flew swifter than an arrow across the waters. After sailing the boat for a month, They left the dynamic breath of the sea behind. In the middle of the sea, a grove appeared, The description of which is beyond any imagination. There was no bird in all the world That was not in that pleasant place of joy. On one side they displayed themselves in flocks, Like pheasants with crowns and turtledoves with collars. On another side, in rows, they were all singers, Making music with their beaks and throats. Young trees stood branch to branch within it, And bold birds sang their melodies there. Fruits lay scattered at the foot of the trees, Fresh and dry mixed together. A spring of water flowed beneath every tree, With sunlight and shade dappled around it. The branches trembled from the hand of the wind, Like a hand full of dinars to be counted. Since its grasp was not tight enough, They would slip through the spaces between its fingers. It was as if when the Garden of Iram hid its face, Its bud blossomed in this very place. Or the Garden of Eden, without the Day of Judgment, Had unveiled its face there. When Salaman saw the beauty of the grove, He cut short his thoughts of travel. With a heart free from any hope or fear, He settled down in the grove with Absal. Both happy together like soul and body, Both joyful like rose and lily together. A companionship far from the interference of strangers, And comfort remote from the mixing of grief. No blame-monger was at war with them, Nor did any hypocrite show double-dealing toward them. Rose in embrace, and no scratch of a thorn; Treasure by the side, and no torment of a snake. Sleeping at any moment in a meadow, And drinking at every breath from a spring. Sometimes conversing with the nightingale, Sometimes sharing sugar with the parrot. Sometimes strutting with the peacock, Sometimes walking with the Caspian snowcock. To make a long story short, with hearts full of pleasure and joy, They both passed their days into night. Indeed, what could be better than having your beloved with you In your embrace, while the fault-finders are cast aside? With nothing but your desired goal in your embrace, And no obstacle to your desire in existence.
