Section 50 - Salaman Answering the King

Original content

English translation

When Salaman listened to that counsel, The ocean of his nature boiled with pearls. He said, 'O King, I am the servant of your judgment, And the dust beneath your throne-polishing feet. All that you have commanded, I have accepted with my soul, Yet I am weary of my own impatience. It is not in the power of my afflicted heart; To patient be with your command is not within my capability. Many times I have pondered within myself, And struggled in the hope of release from this affliction. But when the memory of that moon comes to me, My soul breaks into sighs and lamentations. And if my gaze should fall upon her face, I turn my face from both worlds toward her. In beholding the countenance of that heart-pleasing beloved, Neither counsel remains in my memory, nor advice.'
