Section 105 - Sequel to the Story of the Ghouri

Original content

English translation

The Ghouri man, hungry and thirsty, With no spark of life remaining in his body, Limping, turned his face toward home. To whoever asked him, he replied: 'I took steps as long as I could, But turned back as soon as I realized That I would not reach the Kaaba today, And that there is still a long way to the Kaaba. Within three leagues, my heart turned to blood; How, then, can I traverse a thousand leagues? How? Henceforth, I shall seek a corner of solitude, And die facing the wall of affliction. Since companionship with the Beloved was not attained, I shall withdraw my feet from the company of strangers.'
