English translation

Blessed is that day when, from the retreat of mystery, He rode his steed into the arena of grace. He raised the banner of dignity in Batha, and struck a new coin of prosperity for Mecca. His shadowless cypress, through its lofty stature, cast a shadow over the heads of the thirsty-lipped. The sand became gold from the elixir of his footsteps, and the womb of the valley became a pearl-bearing shell. The sun of the dawn of faith is his, and the shining light of the forenoon of benevolence is his. His east was Mecca and his west Yathrib, radiant is the space from east to west because of him. One night, at the banquet of prophecy, he invited the needy ones of Arabia. He split the disc of the moon in two with the fingertip of generosity, for the sake of a handful of unbelieving folk. There is no wonder more wondrous than this, that they did not touch their lips to that disc. Another night, from foot to soul, from head to toe, upon a shining Buraq swift as lightning, A grey steed like a meteor, with fiery feet, its horseshoe like the new moon rubbing against the heavens, Throwing the dome of dust behind his back, he rode beyond the horizons, revolving the dome. He drew the cloak of the body to the top of the Divine Throne, then cast off the cloak and reached the Lord of the Throne. His eyes became illuminated by that light of eternity; he returned, and his bed was still warm. He was the light of the eye of the world's person, yet, like the eye's sight, hidden from his own view. In the blink of an eye, the light of vision passes through all the heavens. For a trial, toward the lofty sky open your eyes and close them at that very instant. See how the light of your vision, without running or rushing, goes to the firmament and returns. Though his finger did not reach the pen, the Tablet and the Pen were in his grasp. His soul was the pen of the creation of eternity; if there is no pen, what harm is there to the writer? If he closed his eyes to ink and writing, no defect reaches his perfection. He was light, and writing is dark ink; how can light and darkness be gathered together? His four companions, who are mines of gems, are like the four pillars of the palace of religion. They are truthfulness, justice, generosity, and modesty, which through them remain established in the world. All went well-pleasing and pleased with God, they went as seekers of proximity to the Truth. They are now lost in proximity to the Truth, may Allah the Exalted be pleased with them. The firstborn of power is the Pen, from whose tip the two worlds are but a single writing. Not a pen, but rather a fresh sapling grown from the garden of the realm of beauty. It is the pearl of the meaning of the Best of Mankind, of which it has become the seed and the fruit. When the thread of existence is brought to account, he is the first of thought, the last of deed. Though his form was born of Adam, his spiritual meaning is the very source of existence. This is clear to every wise person, that the tree and the seed were born together. He is the Qiblah of both slave and free, he is the final cause of creation. From his face, everyone snatches light, and from his door, everyone finds their affairs resolved. Wondrous is his name by which he is designated; he made his sandals of the two letters. Behold Adam, who has made eternal honor the crown of his head by remembering him. He is the rose of the city of both worlds, yes; there is a city and a rose that are but parables of him. The rose, which came from the sweat of his cheek, is nothing but a drop of dew from his rose garden. Before his fresh writing existed, his fame resounded without the squeaking of the pen. The Tablet of the traces of the pen had nothing, when it wrote the letter of his desire upon its face. The Divine Throne had not yet set its foot upon the Footstool, when it was in anticipation of his arrival. So that he would come riding a camel, the heaven had arranged its camel caravans in a row. The days were sitting on his path, having built a four-vaulted arch from the four elements. His light shone from the forehead of Adam, and so the angels bowed in prostration. Noah, in the perilous storm, found support from him in navigating the ark. The scent of his grace reached Abraham, and a rose garden blossomed from Nimrod's fire. His countenance kindled the fire of Moses, his lips taught the raising of the dead to the Messiah. He went happily in the caravan of poverty, while Salih was a camel-driver of his caravan. He set his baggage in the corner of poverty, throwing a hundred thrones of Solomon to the wind. Idris was a student of his courtesy, and Bilqis was the sweeper of his sanctuary.
