بخش ۳۳ - مناجات در اشارت به آنکه ارادت نخست از جانب مراد است نه مرید و طلب توفیق توبه که مبنای سایر مقامات است / Section 33 - Supplication in Alluding to the Fact That Devotion First Comes from the Side of the Beloved, Not the Lover, and Seeking the Success of Repentance Which is the Foundation of Other Stations

Original content

English translation

O You by whom the hearts of the people of devotion are gladdened, I pride in You, who are both the disciple and the Master. The man of state-shifting has no stability before You, The yearning of Your wretched lover has no solace. Our wishing from our own side is not proper; Whatever there is, is from Your side first. Until You reduce our self-existence by Your sovereign will, Our own wishing and desiring will bear no fruit. But if Your desire for us becomes upright, Every hair on our body will turn into desire. For the fortune of a good end, Warm up a cup with the fire of Your love. In his heart, kindle a flame from that heat, And burn away everything other than You entirely. Perhaps, free from the headache of immature thoughts, Running headlong with total devotion, he may take a few steps, To find his way to the ultimate destination of his goal, And reach the hidden corner of non-existence. And if the fire of self-existence flares up, He may pour the water of repentance upon that fire.
