Original content

English translation

O Thou, in yearning for Whom the heaven is bewildered, And the angel has never turned its head from Thy yoke. We bear scars on our soul and heart from yearning for Thee, We are the slave of Thy scar and the dog of Thy yoke. If we do not run swiftly with the yoke of loyalty, On Thy path, we are less than dogs. Cast out the desire for any other from our heart, And increase our yearning for Thee day by day. If we do not drink wine from the chalice of Thy union, We are content with the heart-consuming pain of yearning for Thee. Our heart-consuming pain for Thy sake is our honor, And any other humiliation we suffer is our glory. In the abyss of this sea of mirage, may Jami Find true honor through being humbled by Thee. If fortune should guide him on the way, The scar of yearning for Thee becomes his daily portion. Whatever resides in the wounded soul other than yearning for Thee Sows regret and bears the fruit of sorrow. To sever him from regret and sorrow, Place the sword of zeal (Ghayrat) into his hand.
