Original content

English translation

O possessors of wings, the birds have tucked their heads under their wings out of shame before You. Adam's affair became arduous out of shame before You; he made his covering from the leaves of the tree. The night, with its gaze lit by the stars, has kept its eye of shame fixed upon the ground. At dawn, around Your threshold, the sphere of heaven sheds tears from the warmth of the sun. Your servant Jami, who is Your lowest creature, stands with his head bowed down in the path of helplessness before You. Like the waning moon, his face has diminished, and like a ring, he clings to the door of intimacy. Make him an intimate of the circle of Your secrets, and turn him away from the door of vanity. If he is a slave to greed and passion, make him ashamed of that servitude. When he falls into shamefulness, he will be cleansed of whatever brings shame. Inscribe upon the page of his purity the words of freedom and liberation.
