Section 51 - Supplication in Transitioning from Gratitude and Thankfulness to Fear and Dread

Original content

English translation

O You Who have spread the banquet of bounty across the world, Various kinds of blessings are present at Your table. Both the blessings and the gratitude for them are from You; This matter cannot be made right except through You. For those who praise You, the very substance of the tongue Is like a single morsel from that banquet in the mouth. Since a morsel is not separate from provision, By that morsel the whole world is singing in prosperity. Even though Jami is among the nobodies, Through that morsel, bring him to song and prosperity. If You do not test him with fire, How can anything of value come to anyone from a nobody? Make his eyes see the beauty of Your blessings, Make his tongue speak in gratitude for Your blessings. Keep him companion to Your blessings day and night, Keep him joyful in thanking Your blessings. And if he withdraws his foot from the path of gratitude and devotion, Strike a wound upon his heart with the dagger of fear.
