Section 54 - Supplication on Seeking Refuge and Clinging, from the Abode of Fear to the Sanctuary of Hope

Original content

English translation

O You, from fear of Whom our body is like a hair, And our heart is split in two, like a parting of hair, by You. The sword of Your fear has drowned everyone in blood, Behold, it leaves the mark of the sword on the crown of the head. We are foxes, suffering from wretchedness, Alas if the Lion should strike with His paw! Though we are bold in our tricks and deceit, The assault of the Lion breaks all wiles. Until a decree of safety arrives from You, The body of hope will not receive a soul. The servant Jami, who is under Your nurturing care, Has his eyes fixed on Your bounty and mercy. Show forgiveness and have mercy upon him, For if You do not forgive, woe unto him! Keep him safe from the hell of Your wrath, And make him dwell in the paradise of Your grace. Enlighten the eye of his soul with Your face, Turn the furnace of the world into a rose garden for him. Bring him to the ranks of the people of purity, And lead him to the station of his hope.
