Section 111 - Supplication on the Approach of Inspiring Counsels

Original content

English translation

O You, through Whom both the kingdom and angels have lost control, The camels of heaven are drunk with the ecstasy of You. There is a fear that these Seven and Four (the seven planets and four elements) Will sever their reins out of love for You, And turn their faces toward the desert of Your grief, Giving up their sweet souls in restless searching. Oh, happy is that wayfarer who has escaped from self, And joined in a perpetual dance because of You. When he runs headlong with devotion, beneath his feet, The sting of the thorn becomes like fresh green grass. Stepping outside the circle of peace and conflict, He has surrendered his head to the path of spiritual audition (Sama'). Make Jami the dust of his feet, And remove raw immaturity from him through his breath. Give him a sip from the goblet of his self-extinction (fana), And seat him at the banquet of his faithfulness. Loosen the chains of imitation from his soul, And release the flow of wisdom from his tongue. Keep his breath flowing with counsel, And open the ears of those who listen to advice.
