Section 75 - Supplication on the Transition from the State of Proximity to Bashfulness

Original content

English translation

O You who are as close to the body as the soul, As close to the body as the life-vein! Indeed, You are closer than the life-vein, But where are they to understand, those who are so far? If Your proximity does not step forward, The entire universe will return to nonexistence. Though everyone should keep far from us, The source of our being is Your proximity, and that suffices. Both the far and the near benefit from You, And partake of food from the table of Your generosity. On Your path, traversing distance is estrangement, Seeking union through journeying is separation. What is Your proximity? Severing oneself from oneself, And gathering one's skirt from time and space. The day of Jami, which is far from Your closeness, Has grown as dark as a pitch-black night. Grant him light from the splendor of Your face, Apply a balm to his sore heart, So that the luminary of Your proximity may shed light, And he may draw his face behind the veil of bashfulness.
