Section 60 - Supplication on Turning Towards the Gardens of Trust and Inhaling Therefrom the Breeze of Contentment

Original content

English translation

O You of whom both worlds are but parts, and You are the Whole, By You the thorn of the desert of trust becomes a rose. You grant the part the knowledge of the Whole, You provide the provision for the path of trust. You become the guide for the chosen ones, Leading them to sustenance beyond material causes. Sometimes, for the thirsty one in fever and fervor, You bring forth a spring of water from a mirage. Sometimes, for the hungry, from a barren branch, You pour down abundant fruit for nourishment. You give the heart of a lion to the traveler of the path, And place his burden upon the shoulders of a lion. When he is mounted upon the shoulders of the lion, You give him a whip made of a snake's tail. The soul of Jami, which is caught in this whirlpool, Is at the center of the circle of material causes. Grant him passage into the rose-garden of trust, Make that garden his place of contemplation. When its bud opens its fragrance-bearing pod, Waft to his smell the scent of contentment.
