Section 68 - The First Sage Offering Condolences

Original content

English translation

When the first sage began to lift the veil, he thus brought forth the secret from behind the veil: "O source of the Alexandrian light, whose rank of sovereignty is exalted through you, if the rose of the garden has fallen, may the garden endure, and if the moon has departed, may the sun keep shining. I know not how to bid you patience, nor how to show you the path of repose. Alexander has bidden you patience, and has shown you the way toward repose. Since like true men you set foot upon that road, you fell nothing short of his command. By his word your affair became clear to you— what need have you of any command of mine? In this affliction-filled abode of mourners, you are the best of all mothers, for at the death of your wise child you did not turn away from the decree of your Lord. From your soul the light of certainty has arisen, your heart has pitched its tent in another realm. Tomorrow a reward will be within your reach, such as no one shall ever see."
