Section 61 - The Lament of the Fifth Sage

Original content

English translation

When the turn fell to the fifth sage, he thus opened his tongue to Alexander: "O you who bore the toil of this transient abode, and gathered together much wealth and treasure, alas that your toil was in vain, your treasure did not become the balm of your toil. No profit from your treasure and wealth remained in your hand, upon your neck nothing but its burden remained. Upon your back a heavy toil from the treasure; lightened of load, others take their ease from it."
