Section 59 - The Lament of the Third Sage

Original content

English translation

Another sage said that that triumphant one, renowned throughout the world for his learning, who seized the earth, kingdom by kingdom, and took it with a gilded sword like the sun, the world had no king the like of him, yet his fortune held no permanence. Suddenly, like a cloud, he arrived and passed, a few drops dripped from him and passed away. No sleeper found rest of sleep within his shade, nor did any thirsty one drink water from his drop. He departed so that not even a trace of him remained; and what is a trace? Not even a word of him remained.
