بخش ۳۴ - عقد نهم در مقام توبه که پشت بر مخالفات کردن است و روی در موافقات آوردن / Section 34 - The Ninth Knot on the Station of Repentance, Which Is Turning One's Back on Oppositions and Turning One's Face Toward Concordances

Original content

English translation

Before this event happens to you, It is better that you seek your remedy through repentance. Gather up your skirt from the lower self and passion, Then sit at the knee of loyalty. Turn back from whatever is bad, And untie the knot of persistence from your heart. Be remorseful for what has passed, And shed tears of grief from your eyelashes. Rarely traverse the path to the borders of error, And seldom cross over to the realm of transgression. The roses of this garden are all of one color, And the call of its birds is in one harmony. The fruit you pick from its branch this year, You will see in the very same form as last year. Its scent is the same, its color is the same, Its movement toward its own perfection is the same. Last year was pleasant to your eye and heart, What is your harvest from it this year? In the eyes of the discerning one, Next year will be in this very same manner and measure. There is no use in repeating sin, But that only robs the action of its pleasure. How long will you draw pleasure from sins? Repentance too is not without pleasure, taste it! The angel is pure from the stain of disobedience, While the devil is of an infidel nature and reckless. The nature of the angel does not incline toward sin, And the devil will not find the right path through repentance. Repentance belongs specifically to humankind, Repentance is the source of intimacy. If you do not refuse your lineage to Adam, Say 'Our Lord' and where are the darknesses? Make your face dusty with the soil of neediness, And color your eyelashes with the blood of your liver. Dye your robe in indigo like the sky, And cast a flame within yourself like a lamp. Apply the kohl of wakefulness to your eyes, And drag your belongings into the corner of humility. Make the carpet of that corner out of ashes, And dwell in it with a heart like a burning ember. Scratch your chest with the fingernail of regret, And erase the letter of desire for sin from your heart. Raise your hand to the court of God, Saying, 'O Pardoner of mistakes, O Forgiver of the sinner! Behold my weeping, lamentation, and humility, Look at the effective arrow in my liver. My sigh of 'Alas!' has cast fire into my heart, The fire of my heart is sufficient to be my hell. From the fire of my heart, I have become warm-breathed, For burning away my sins, this fire is enough.' In this manner, weave the dust of humility around yourself, And knock on the door of weeping and supplication. Perhaps this will make an impression on your heart, And a door of repentance will open to your face. Otherwise, go about begging from men and women, At the door of every worthy and unworthy person. Speak of your heart's pain and seek spiritual assistance, So that you may find a way out of this abyss. O, many a lion has been hard-pressed by weakness, Such that a lame fox becomes its captor. And many a helpless man stranded in his place, Whose thorn from the foot is pulled by an old woman. O you who have written the letters of sin, And blackened the book of your life with these letters, If you are not merely a pen of wickedness, Why are you hanging your head in shame for every letter? Woe if the covenant of survival turns its back, And death places its finger on your written words! The hand of fate spreads the cradle of separation, And from terror, your shin wraps around your shin. Friends will begin a melody of grief, And enemies will start rejoicing. Heirs will gather around your head, Knocking at your door out of greed. From the outside, they look at you weeping, But inwardly they pass by happy and laughing. No soul will have any passion for you, And no one will have any worry for your tomorrow.
