بخش ۵ - ظلم پادشاه چون سیلی حبیب است که هر چند سخت آید سست نماید و ظلم دیگران چون مشت پراکنده رقیب که هر چند سست نماید سخت آید / Section 5 - The Oppression of a King is Like the Slap of a Beloved, Which, However Harsh It Appears, Proves Gentle; and the Oppression of Others is Like the Scattered Blows of a Rival, Which, However Gentle They Appear, Prove Severe

English translation

O you whose kingship has raised its head to the sky, The dust of whose feet has become the crown of the sun. The grace of God gave you that station, That you became a shadow to God. Do not lift your head to the heavens in pride, For the shadow's place is better on the ground. If the shadow's place were in the sky, How would creatures be safe from the sun? Whoever has the sun's sword upon his head, The shadow serves as a shield for him from that wound. Truth placed you on the throne of justice, So you might act as a shield before swords, Not that you yourself should be a blood-spilling sword, An affliction to the lives of this one and that one. Turn the face of justice toward the high heaven, And consign oppression to the well of nonexistence. Uproot the oppressor from the garden of the kingdom, Break the branch of oppression from the tree of faith. I fear this branch of yours will bring from that root The burden of reproach and the fruit of rebuke. If you do not bind the oppressor's hand, So that he brings no ruin to the affairs of the people, Then he is the ruler of the world, not you, He is the owner of authority, not you. Support him with the royal throne, Place the ring of the kingdom upon his finger. Bearing the oppression of one person is easy, But when there are two seeking oppression, it becomes too much. An arrow that comes to a man from one side, He can deflect with a shield; But if there are three or four from every side, The remedy is either death or flight.
