English translation

The spiritual master of monotheism, Sheikh Muhyi al-Din, The sun of the sky of unveiling and certainty, From what he has expressed of his own spiritual tasting, He has related in the 'Meccan Revelations': That, 'When I came to Damascus from the West, The attraction of love seized the collar of my soul. Love kindled a fire within my heart, Such that smoke rose from my very existence. But in no way and by no means Was its focus specified or determined. Love raised its banner to the star Capella, Yet there was no name or trace of the beloved.'
