Section 107 - The Story of the Crow and the Pigeon Who Became Companions Due to Their Shared Limping

Original content

English translation

A mystic, wandering about, went to a garden, He saw in the garden a pigeon with a crow. They had escaped the division of being of different species, And had joined together as if they were of the same kind. When the mystic saw this wondrous state, He bit his fingertip in astonishment: 'How did two dissimilar creatures so boldly Come to gather fruit from a single branch?' Suddenly he saw that from the high branch, They took flight down toward the dark earth. Seeking water, they began to run, And went limping to the edge of the stream. He saw that their partnership in limping Gave them the quality of concord. Otherwise, what affinity has a crow with a pigeon, That they should take their place on the same branch? Many relatives of blood sharing a house Sit as strangers to one another. Affinity is not through proximity of lineage; The proximity of the people of refinement comes from refinement.
